Hindi Typing Test Online — Remington Gail & InScript

Practise Devanagari typing on a normal keyboard, with the exact layout your exam expects — and see speed and accuracy the way recruitment boards count them.

Short answer: Open TypeX Practice, choose Hindi, select Remington Gail or InScript, and type the passage shown. TypeX reports gross WPM, net WPM and accuracy when time is up. Free, no signup.

Which Hindi layout should you practise?

Two layouts dominate. Remington Gail follows the old typewriter arrangement and is widely used in government typing tests. InScript is the standard Indian-script layout built into Windows, Android and macOS. Your exam notification states which one is allowed — practise that one only, so your muscle memory does not get split.

How Hindi typing speed is measured

Boards typically count characters or key depressions rather than whole words, because Hindi words vary a lot in length. TypeX shows gross and net speed using transparent formulas, and lets admins and exam rule sets apply board-specific rules. Always confirm the current rule in your official advertisement.

Tips for faster, cleaner Hindi typing

  • Learn the base characters first, then matras and conjuncts (half letters).
  • Keep eyes on the passage, not the keyboard — use the on-screen finger guide until it is automatic.
  • Practise 10–15 minutes daily instead of one long weekly session.
  • Check your Weak Spots report and drill the characters you miss most.
